Senior Manager, Strategy & Programmes
Job Purpose
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Strategy & Programmes to lead the implementation of our organisation's strategic initiatives related to climate action and the green economy transition. This position will drive the execution of our three-year strategic plan by securing and implementing client projects, managing cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality advisory services. The ideal candidate will excel at translating strategy into action, building strong client relationships, and leading teams to deliver impactful outcomes across our key service areas.
Within your first year, you will:
a. Secure and successfully lead 6-10 client projects aligned with our strategic priorities
b. Build and lead high-performing project teams
c. Achieve consistently high client satisfaction ratings
d. Identify and develop new business opportunities for sustainable growth
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation & Delivery
a. Lead the end-to-end implementation of client projects and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and client expectations.
b. Develop comprehensive project plans with clear milestones, deliverables, and resource requirements.
c. Monitor project progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure successful outcomes.
d. Establish and maintain project management systems and processes to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.
e. Prepare and present regular progress reports to leadership and clients.
Business Development & Client Management

a. Develop compelling funding proposals and client pitches to secure resources for sustainability initiatives.
b. Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with organisational strategy.
c. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
d. Collaborate with senior leadership to scope and design advisory services that meet client needs.
e. Ensure high client satisfaction through regular engagement and responsive service delivery.

Research & Advisory Excellence

a. Oversee the development and execution of high-quality research projects that inform policy and practice.
b. Translate complex research findings into actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders.
c. Identify emerging trends in sustainability and green economy transition to inform service offerings.
d. Design and deliver impactful events and knowledge products to effectively disseminate research findings.
e. Ensure methodological rigor and maintain highest standards of delivery across all projects.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Development
a. Facilitate productive dialogues among diverse stakeholders to advance sustainability goals.
b. Cultivate strategic partnerships with external stakeholders including ministries, international organisations, NGOs, banks, embassies, and companies.
c. Represent the organisation at industry events and forums to enhance visibility and influence.
d. Collaborate with internal teams to leverage partnerships for maximum impact.
e. Identify potential collaborations that advance the organisation's strategic objectives.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
a. Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams to achieve exceptional results.
b. Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and recognize team achievements.
c. Build team capacity through coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
d. Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
e. Implement performance management practices that align individual goals with organisational priorities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education & Work Experience:
a. Advanced degree in sustainability, environmental management, business, public policy, or a related field.
b. Experience working in a consulting or advisory capacity with both public and private sector clients.
c. 10-12 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 8 years in project management and team leadership roles.
d. Proven track record implementing sustainability or climate-related initiatives in the MENA region.
e. Strong leadership abilities with experience managing high-performing teams.
f. Project management expertise is highly desirable.
- Programme Development & Management:
a. Demonstrated success in securing funding and managing client relationships
b. Strong project management skills with ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously
c. Experience developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks
d. Proven ability to translate strategic goals into operational plans and measurable outcomes
e. Track record of successful stakeholder management and partnership development

Advisory Expertise:
a. Strong understanding of climate policy, green finance, and sustainability best practices
b. Experience producing high-quality research outputs and policy recommendations
c. Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it effectively to diverse audiences
d. Knowledge of current trends and developments in climate action and green economy transition
e. Experience facilitating workshops and stakeholder consultations

a. Exceptional communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
b. Strong team leadership abilities with experience managing diverse professionals
c. Ability to work effectively with senior executives and government officials
d. Fluency in English and Arabic is required
