UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA) Ltd. is a nonprofit climate action organisation on a mission to accelerate climate action by driving the UAE’s transition to a green economy through effective innovation, collaboration, and policy advocacy in support of the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative.

We empower and enable organisations to fulfil their sustainability commitments through data-driven research and insightful policy development, bespoke capacity building programmes, and technology acceleration.

Where we focus

Carbon Solutions

We identify and advance the most promising models for decarbonisation. We collaborate with partners in power, industry, and transportation to devise low-carbon pathways and implement clean energy technologies.

Circular Economy

We find sustainable ways to make products and use resources. We accelerate the efforts of UAE policymakers and regulators to improve circularity in manufacturing, infrastructure, transport, and food.

Climate Adaptation

We develop tools to navigate a changing climate. We engage with key stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure and ecosystems are resilient for a warmer future.

On 7 November 2024, UICCA’s Carbon Solutions Launchpad featured eight startups from a pool of over 70 applicants. The event highlighted innovative carbon reduction technologies, including carbon capture and hydrogen fuel cells, presented to investors and industry leaders, concluding the three-month mentorship programme.

UICCA announced the winners of the Climate Call, an AI-enabled platform supporting youth-led climate solutions. At the Grand Finale, attended by Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, three projects were recognised: "RenewComm," a community-led wind energy initiative; "Trash to Treasure," utilising agricultural waste to enhance food security; and "AquaPalm," transforming date palm waste into sustainable water purification solutions. The winning projects were featured on The Climate Tribe platform as part of UICCA’s commitment to fostering inclusive climate action.

In a commitment to advancing global climate action and fostering international collaboration, Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan concluded a week of impactful engagements at Climate Week NYC and the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), addressing transformative topics such as the role of AI in climate action and the significance of cross-sector partnerships.
