Message from the CEO

In the Middle East, temperatures are rising twice as fast as the global average. If we stay on this course, our lives and livelihoods will change forever, and our region will be uninhabitable by 2100.

Most experts agree on the importance of climate change but disagree on how to address it. As a result, sustainability efforts are often fragmented and ineffective.

UICCA began with a question: what if we eliminated silos and focused on collective action instead?

As an independent climate action organisation, we work across sectors to help our partners collaborate, cooperate, and innovate.

If we act now—and act together—we can secure a sustainable home for generations.

Our Story

Our Story

Growing the Green Economy

UICCA is an independent nonprofit organisation.

We ask bold questions to find new ways for the environment and economy to work together: What if people had a more conscious and responsible relationship with nature? What if sustainable choices were our default options? What if every person had access to clean air, food, and water?

We incubate new climate technology, collaborate with organisations that share our vision, and facilitate meaningful conversations across sectors.

Our Story

Founded on Sustainability

UICCA was founded and is led by Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, a global climate leader who helms several entities addressing climate change, sustainability, and gender equity.

She believes a sustainable future requires unprecedented collaboration between governments, civil society, and the private sector.

UICCA is designed to fill in the gaps and address the most persistent challenges that prevent the UAE from making progress on climate action.
