Executive Speechwriter
Job Purpose
The Executive Speechwriter plays a critical role in shaping the voice of the organisations led by UICCA’s President & CEO by crafting impactful speeches, presentations, and messaging. This position requires a deep understanding of organisational mission and objectives, and a keen ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives. The role involves close collaboration with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organisational initiatives and messaging, as well as depth of understanding about developments within the sustainability sector in the UAE and globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Speechwriting and Executive Communication:
- a. Develop and edit high-impact speeches, presentations, and messaging for the President & CEO to effectively communicate mission, strategy, and key initiatives.
- b. Tailor speeches to inspire and influence a range of audiences, including external and internal stakeholders, aligning tone, style and messaging to the audience and setting.
- c. Develop talking points, scripts, and executive summaries for leadership meetings and special events, and brief the President & CEO in preparation for them.
- d. Drive and oversee the creation of visual content to accompany speeches or presentations.
- Collaborative Content Development:
- a. Partner with internal teams and external partners to gather necessary information and insights to support content development.
- b. Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure accuracy, relevance, and coherence in speech material.
- c. Develop talking points, scripts, and executive summaries for leadership meetings and special events, and brief the President & CEO in preparation for them.
- d. Drive and oversee the creation of visual content to accompany speeches or presentations.
- Industry and Organisational Brand Alignment:
- a. Stay up to date on industry trends, emerging issues, and internal developments to ensure content is relevant and aligned with the organisation’s objectives and strategies.
- b. Identify opportunities to incorporate organisation’s values and strategic priorities into speeches, presentations, and other content.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven experience as a speechwriter, with experience in executive-level communications.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with the capacity to simplify complex ideas and tailor messages for specific audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with senior leaders, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and speechwriting tools or platforms.
- A positive, solutions-oriented attitude and ability to thrive under tight deadlines.
