Language and dialogue play an essential role in our collective climate action journey, shaping powerful narratives and maintaining engagement on this critical issue. However, the challenges of climate change are vast and complex, leaving room for discrepancy in discourse around the topic.

Subject matter experts at UICCA have developed the UICCA Climate Change Glossary to bridge knowledge gaps, foster collaboration, and enhance understanding of key global and regional climate concepts, such as climate finance, greenhouse gas emissions, mitigation strategies, adaptation, and disaster risk reduction.

Through knowledge sharing, this glossary aims to make intricate topics accessible to a diverse audience, including policymakers, academia, media, practitioners, and specifically
Arabic-speaking audiences. It provides clarity and consistency by demystifying scientific concepts that might otherwise be misunderstood or misinterpreted.

The UICCA Climate Change Glossary will be updated every six months, as best practices evolve. In close collaboration with key stakeholders, we will continue to refine and expand definitions, in order to ensure relevance, inclusivity, and engagement.
